I've decided to publish my new book HERE first, on my Substack. The question is whether you, the readers, actually want to read it as it unfolds.
I'm with Ivan. Finished sausage, preferably grilled. But that's today. Could change. So probably don't count my [no] vote.
To be honest, I prefer the final, nicely packaged sausage and skip the feeding, killing and grinding part. :|
Johnny, I would, but I'm new to your posts, and very glad to meet you. It sounds like we have similar processes. On my 76th novel since 2014 (with 2 years of that time not writing) I'm currently hitting 3000+ words per day of clean, publishable fiction. So no time for now to watch as you "write in public." But I'm pulling for you 100%. Visit my Journal sometime at hestanbrough.com.
I would read it! I’m finishing up The Beam Season 5 (loving it) and always like to see what you come up with next.
Hey there! I remember doing the 'unboxed' back in 2014. It's always fascinating to see a story unfold in real-time. That said, maybe we can skip the screen recordings and videos of you typing in your pyjamas at 6am this time around? 😉 Keep up the great work!
Yes, of course 😄
Lots of people are doing serialisation as something is being written, myself included. I think Substack is a great format for it. Doesn't bother me if you end up tweaking anything along the way or later. I like the notion of something unfolding in real-time.
Have you considered post length? One of the things I've seen people struggle with with readerships here is maintaining an audience in serialisation, and I suspect some of that comes down to perceived time commitment, which is, sadly, a shame.
Anyway, the memory premise sounds cool and interesting. Best of luck!
I would LOVE to see your writing in process, with all the blood and guts and nonsense that involves. 🤞🏽that I can pay for the privilege of seeing you do it soo, too!
